Of course northern va is going to have more seats because it has more people. I’m not seeing how that’s a bad thing? Technically, the majority is being represented.

I would turn Northern Virginia into a state. Have western Virginia to West Virginia? Why not have western Virginia to become a state called Roanoke and the southeastern Virginia called Franklin, Tidewater area state name TBD and keep Central Virginia as Virginia.

Unfortunately it seems our Loudoun Co schools have either failed you or perhaps as is more common up here with those beliefs, you were home schooled with a very specific reason & mindset. First of all, when you start your politically oriented rant about Northern Virginia being run by Democratic bureaucrats, you left out what appears to be your home county of Loudoun on your map. Loudoun Co is very much part of Northern Virginia, but it seems you hate that concept. What you described about "control" of our Commonwealth is what you will find in most so-called blue states - it is the people who vote, not the land. We are supposed to be in a democracy, not a feudal system of land owners that control our politics. What you described you can say about California, New York, Illinois and so on. Again, the population votes, NOT the land. When you show a map of the US showing size based on population voting you would clearly see the the states look VERY different, and would in fact would more clearly show the Commonwealth and the US as a whole has more so-called blue voters than red. Showing land alone as red & blue is a false equivalency logical falacy to try to make it appear as if most of the US or even Virginia is red, when in fact the majority of the population of this country & Commonwealth vote otherwise. Next you somewhat debunked your north is basically controlling everyone else when you clearly show the entire Richmond area, the greater Norfolk / Hampton Roads / VA Beach area, and the Charlottesville / Albemarle Co area (that you failed to say) all as blue voters. Again it bears repeating, it is the populous that vote, not the land, but you clearly show the representation extends the diversity of the state, not just the federal bureaucratic north. You unfortunately are making a reductive argument to try to prove a point, and one that is not truly correct. Now yes, our country has a whole a problem with fair representation, but that extends in both directions. This was done by the general quirks of our outdated representative system as wells as nefarious by Gerrymandering and exclusionary tactics to keep power held by one side. There are several so-called red states that are overwhelmingly controlled by Republicans with some having absolutely abysmal to almost no representation from the other side despite some having 30% - 40% of their populations voting otherwise. At least Virginia does have a rather balanced representative showing in the State House & Senate where many southern states do not. Your uncomfortable sidebar on immigrants is really riddled with dogwhistle arguments, but you failed to note that the companies in the Shenandoah Valley region all heavily rely on immigrant labor and even openly entice undocumented immigrants that illegally entered the country to keep labor cheap as well as population that cannot vote to dilute their power at all. Now that is a majorly hypocritical stance to have in slamming migrants / "illegals", but still quietly exploiting them for cheaper labor and making sure they cannot gain any representation to take away any red power. That is a very troubling topic all on its own. The final point I will make in my now a bit of a rant, is that your reductive oversimplification of these issues are based in at least a few logical fallacies that really do more to divide and tear us apart than work to find real solutions that are most fair for ALL of our population / country as a whole. And before you even say it - I am not a Democrat or a Republican, and I have actually voted for both. People's biases and even prejudices get in the way of critical thinking, and when you add in identity politics where people need to label themselves or others as one side or the other (Democrat / Republicans, conservative / liberal, blue / red, etc.), it only does a disservice to our country as a whole and plays into the hands of those outside countries that actually wish to harm our country. Remember, United we stand, divided we fall - and we are actively tearing ourselves apart from within, with many even fired up by foreign disinformation campaigns. In a true democracy you will only be mostly happy with only up to half the decisions and policies that a fairly representative government puts in place, with hopefully about ~35% you completely agree with, ~20% you partially agree with and maybe ~10% you are just ok with. That is really democracy, we can't just have our way.

As a person born in Chesapeake, this is a shitty argument. We don’t feel “pressure” from northern Virginia. Richmond has more power than “northern Virginia” whatever you classify that. We don’t spend our whole lives worrying about politics. We enjoy our lives and don’t give a damn about “northern” Virginia.

This is quite the sophomoric description of Virginia politics and history. If you were a good student in a well funded public school AND actually paid attention, in your Virginia History course you should have come away with more than this simplified version. All you are doing is further dividing people, not educating or enlightening. What’s ironic is VA now has a rabid, militant, immigrant, evangelical Senate candidate from communist Vietnam who owes his entire US success story to his time in the US Navy as well as living in blue NoVA. He epitomizes the grandiose elitist military type who believes that with his military service, he and his large family are owed something, not that he wants to serve his constituents. A lot of Virginia’s did not serve in the military and while those who served honorable deserve better, a Senate term with this guy will ensure everyone is miserable. Don’t think for a moment he will do anything to meet the needs of ALL Virginia citizens, including a homemaker like me, but he will gladly play the “I’m a military hero, I deserve this” card. He is a product of the NoVA culture that you point to in your video as controlling the state.

As a Marylander, I think Virginia should give their territory on the Delmarva peninsula to Maryland.

The problem you are describing never ends. There will always be areas within polities that are distinctive from the rest of the state that aren't represented in some way. You get this in Alabama, NY, Washington- everywhere. The purported solution is to group peoples who vote together and share a common culture into one state. This DOES NOT work. The best example of why is West Virginia which separated for political reasons but is also more economically, politically, and ethnically homogeneous than most other states. As a result of this, and the West Virginian geography, their economy became terrible because it was diversified, elections stopped being competitive minimizing the need for parties to compete for votes, and West Virginia's isolation has led to some of the worst conditions in America.

I think there’s a strong chance India and Canada both rebel and leave the empire during this alternate WWI and with them, there’s a decent chance Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa do too. The state like fucking stretches itself or fucks with time somehow. I drive through it and it takes forever. I then try the Bay-Bridge tunnel to see if I can get to Maryland or Delaware quicker but the DelMarVa area still took over two hours to get to Maryland!
